As a dedicated husband-and-wife team, Matthew and Barbie Dinsmore bring a personalized approach to firearms training, fostering a safe, inclusive, and professional environment for all.

We are committed to helping our community obtain their Michigan CPL with exceptional classroom instruction and hands-on range experience. Barbie specializes in ladies-only CPL classes and private training, creating a supportive space for women to build their skills, while Matthew leads mixed-gender CPL classes and private sessions, ensuring every student receives tailored guidance. For added flexibility, we offer in person or virtual CPL classroom training via platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom, with range qualifications available at select partner ranges.

Our philosophy extends beyond earning a CPL. At DINSMORE-DEFENSE, we believe that responsible firearm ownership demands precision, discipline, and ongoing practice. Every bullet fired in a self-defense situation must stop the threat without endangering others, which is why we emphasize mastery of shooting fundamentals. Recognizing that shooting is a perishable skill, we equip our students with the tools to maintain proficiency through live-fire practice at ranges or dry-fire techniques at home. Our training programs are designed to instill lifelong habits of safe, effective, and responsible firearms handling. We integrate critical life-saving skills, such as the use of tourniquets and basic trauma care, into our curriculum, acknowledging that medical preparedness is as vital as marksmanship. We also educate our students on the realities of high-stress self-defense scenarios, preparing them to perform under pressure while maintaining situational awareness and sound judgment.
